Christmas is Coming : Round
Here are three versions of a traditional round, Christmas is Coming. This is a little different than the tune you might have learned growing up, but is very fun as a round. I also dug up and adapted some alternate words that leave off the begging aspect of the original. I especially like the part about the mistletoe.
- Christmas is Coming, a round : short version
- Christmas is Coming, a round : longer version
- Christmas is Coming, a round : alternate words
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat,
Please put a penny in the old man’s hat.
If you haven’t got a penny, a hay penny will do,
If you haven’t got a hay penny then God bless you!
Christmas is coming, the candles on the tree,
Won’t you hang a stocking for old St. Nick to see?
If you haven’t got a stocking, a little sock will do,
If you haven’t got a little sock then God bless you!
Christmas is coming, how joyful it will be!
Family will gather round the old Christmas tree;
With the silver tinsel shining, the room is all aglow.
There’s a kiss for you and me beneath the green mistletoe.
