• Silent Night Lead Sheet with Chords and Bass Line

I wrote this version of “Silent Night” for my wife and I to play during our annual family Christmas Eve party this year. It has a simple 3-chord progression for the guitar, melody, lyrics and a bass line I wrote for myself. The base line is the only thing that changes musically from verse to verse, getting progressively more difficult:

• 1st Verse: Just the root notes.
• 2nd Verse: Chord arpeggios, mostly in quarter-note durations.
• 3rd Verse: Runs and arpeggios, mostly in eighth-note durations.

The last verse is difficult enough that I completely messed it up in performance (I’ve only been playing about 7 months), but its not crazy or anything. You can, of course, play any of the bass lines over again, or switch and mix, depending on your bass guitar prowess. Enjoy!
