Recycling Christmas Cards, the leftovers
Over the last couple of weeks my art and craft projects have been focusing on recycling Christmas cards into decorations, ornaments and larger works of display art. I’m almost out of Christmas cards now, but there were still a lot of partial cards. Personally, I feel like, “Don’t throw any of it away!” Every part of the card can be used for something. What to do with it?
- I cut circles out of what I could; perhaps to use in another 10 or 20-sided sphere ornament.
- I clipped out all the inner greetings, prayers, blessings and messages; saving them for what I don’t know yet.
- Any motifs on the backs of the card were clipped out.
- The remainders were punched into little bricks for some future paper mosaic.
Did I throw away the rest? Are you kidding me? This pile of scraps is made of good-quality paper:
When the weather warms up it will go into a bucket which I will fill to top with water. After letting it set overnight it will find its way into the blender I have reserved for craft projects. From the blender it will go to my homemade mould and deckle to produce sheets of Christmas card paper. I’m sure I’ll post more about it then. Merry Christmas!
