Christmas Card Door Hanger
The is the second in a series of projects (see Christmas Card Garland here) for recycling your old Christmas cards into artistic homemade Christmas decorations for around the home. If you’re lucky enough to have gotten a Christmas card that is the shape of an oblong rectangle (or one you can trim into this shape), you can make a Christmas Card Door Hanger:
- Remove the back of the on oblong Christmas card and place on a cutting mat (important!).
- Use a circle cutter (for the cleanest circle), or an exacto knife with a circle stencil to cut a 2 1/4 inch hole near the top of the card.
Voila! Instant festive door hanger from your old Christmas card. If you’d like to have this last for years, or have small children, then I highly recommend laminating the card and then using an exacto knife to remove the lamination from the whole. I used a Scotch thermal laminator on mine, and this it the result:
I like the glossy, laminated look, which I think enhances the brightness of the colors. Hope you enjoy the idea!
Don’t have a lot of Christmas Cards? Well, Ive found that to get them you have to send them. Here are some really cool pop-up Christmas cards I found from Robert Sabuda . . . of course you can always cheat and order a bunch of different Christmas Cards to use in projects like this. Often you can get them on clearance after Christmas.
Merry Christmas!
